While on a 6-hour drive to Spokane WA to visit our parents and family, our 2016 Kia Optima broke down in the middle of nowhere. The weather was horrible... the cold and wind had the temperatures in the low teens and getting colder as the day wore on. Fortunately, we managed to limp into a gas station in George WA, where our car’s breakdown was complete.
Yes, two Sr's and their 14-year-old Golden Retriever were now on foot in the freezing cold on a Saturday afternoon! Now what?
We began searching for an auto repair shop and landed on a local performance automotive repair shop about 25 to 30 miles away in Ephrata WA.
We called the shop and explained our situation to a staff member, but unfortunately, they were not open again until Monday and had not been open on weekends since Covid-19 hit. Which was true of most of the local businesses in the region. No open repair shops, no parts stores, and no car rental services at all. The services that we needed most were not available until Monday — two full days away. We were stuck big time, and it looked like seeing our parents was not going to happen as planned.
The shop promptly arranged for a tow truck to come and pick us up. They also suggested we talk with the tow truck driver when they arrive, as "they are a pretty good mechanic and might be able to help get us back on the road sooner." Wow, a glimmer of hope, maybe? Fingers crossed!
The tow truck arrived about 30 minutes later and the driver introduced himself as a representative from Tow Pros. The driver immediately began checking out the car to see if there was something that could be done to get it running. We initially thought it was a high-pressure fuel pump but could not be certain, so the driver suggested that we stop by their home, which was only a couple blocks from the repair shop, where they had some diagnostic equipment and could test for any fault codes.
When we arrived at the driver’s home, the wind had picked up speed, and the temperatures were dropping further — expected to drop down to 4° that evening. The driver seemed unfazed by the temperature and began checking out our car, finding that the No. 4 cylinder was misfiring. This could be caused by several different issues and that we should go ahead and take it to the shop for further diagnosis and repair.
While the driver was checking out our car, a family member came out to introduce herself and let us know that she would have their car cleaned out, filled with gas, and that we were free to use it for the next few days to go visit our parents 2 1/2 hours away!
Our reaction was complete surprise... "Say what!? Really!?" Your personal car? What will you drive? We can't do that and leave you without your car! I stammered these questions out, but to say the least, I was speechless!
The family insisted that we take their car for a few days and go see our parents and family. Honestly, words cannot properly express our gratitude for all their kindness, generosity, and compassion for two complete strangers and a Golden Retriever they had only met minutes before!
To the driver and family — thank you for being so kind and thoughtful. God Bless you!
And of course, thank you Tow Pros! You have a true professional and a great team
We had a terrible wreck into the water and snow and ice and dark, horrible. Out of the storm comes a big happy driver ready and willing to help us and get the car out of the lake and keep us calm and assured. Considering how bad the weather was they got to us in a hurry and I cannot thank these guys enough and brag enough about the excellent customer service we got. Thanks tow pros...you are professionals
I literally made a Yelp account just to say how great these guys are!!
Late Saturday night, on our way home from a long day of work and travel, my wife and I hit a sudden stretch of ice that sent our ford expedition spinning off the road into the deep snow on a slanted hill. We were decently far out of town and had seen only 1 other car come by in the 30 minutes we spent trying to dig out, who also nearly got stuck. We called Tow Pros and they sent a truck out to save us immediately. The conditions were so icy, that they called a second truck out to help winch us out. Never once did either of the Tow Pros drivers make us feel silly or embarrassed for needing help - in fact, they just seemed thrilled to be doing their job and helping us, even at midnight in the 18 degree weather. And they did it quickly!
They gave us tons of tips and encouragement while saving our butts and for an incredibly fair price.
